Don’t know what a “Virtual Run” is? Its ok – you’re not alone!
So here are the basics:
What is a virtual run?
A virtual run is a “run” that can be run anywhere you are and anytime you want. There are lots of reasons why you may not be able to attend a run, but doing a virtual run allows you to still participate and donate to a great charity! Just register, RUN and send us your results!
What is the distance for virtual runs?
They can be ANY distance! We have a wide variety of runs so just pick the distance that sounds the best to you!
What if I cant do the whole thing at once?
Are you concerned that you don’t think you can finish the whole run at once? The great thing about the virtual run is that you can split the miles over as many days as you want. We just want to see you running, having fun with it and BEING SAFE!
How do improve my time/distance?
Easy! There are a ton of watches and free apps out there to track it for you. Even better is if you run on the treadmill you can just snap a pic of the readout. If you don’t have access to one of those, just give us your best estimate! Send us your results here and we will keep them for you! Our goal is for you to finish and have fun!
Questions? E-mail Info and we will get you squared away!
This event will honor our men and women of the military and help raise money for the Fischer House and Team RWB. If you are not able to be with us on race day, you can still support this great cause by completing the virtual race. Here is how it works:
1. Sign up for the race
2. Complete the race distance in the location and time best for you between now and June 11 and HAVE FUN!
3. Submit your race results here.
Duty, Integrity and Honor. These are just a few words used to describe those who devote their lives to defending our country. Do you have a story from your service or your return home? We would love to hear it! Service stories will be featured on our website, Facebook page and on race day to highlight and honor those who have served! Thank you for sharing your story with us!
Providing a “home away from home” for military families to be close to a loved one during hospitalization for an illness, disease or injury. Because members of the military and their families are stationed worldwide and must often travel great distances for specialized medical care, Fisher House Foundation donates “comfort homes,” built on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers. There are 60 Fisher Houses located on 23 military installations and 22 VA medical centers. There are currently 11 Fisher Houses located in Texas with a 12th currently under construction. These homes enable family members to be close to a loved one at the most stressful time – during the hospitalization for an unexpected illness, disease, or injury. There is at least one Fisher House at every major military medical center to assist families in need and to ensure that they are provided with the comforts of home in a supportive environment. Annually, the Fisher House program serves more than 17,000 families, and have made available over four million days of lodging to family members since the program originated in 1990. Fisher House is also proud to administer and sponsor Scholarships for Military Children, the Hero Miles program, and cosponsors of the Newman’s Own Award. Dallas Athletes Racing is honored to present this year’s WW Military Miles as a benefit race to support the mission of Team RWB (Red, White and Blue). Team RWB’s mission is to enrich the lives of America’s veterans by connecting them to their communities through physical & social activity. Local chapters provide veterans consistent opportunities to connect with their community through exercise such as, triathlons, running, cycling, yoga, Crossfit, hiking, and more. These activities allow any member of the community to get involved and support the transition from service member to civilian. Interaction leads to supportive relationships between veterans and members of the community.
Team RWB’s programs create a positive environment that builds confidence, self-esteem, and esprit de corps, while adding structure and goal-setting to life. Nearly 2.5 million American service members have deployed in support of the Global War on Terrorism. Over the next 4 years, approximately 1.2 million service members will leave the Active Duty and become veterans. While the wars in Iraq & Afghanistan are fading from the social consciousness and headlines, there is an enormous increase in need for veterans support. Though there are many veterans’ service organizations, most focus on supporting wounded veterans from the point of injury to their release from Active Duty. Recognizing a gap in services, Team RWB chooses to focus on meeting veterans “where they’re at” and mobilizing American citizens to connect with them at the community level through consistent exercise and social/community events as the vehicle to improve social connectivity and reintegration.
