I am a runner. I have been for as long as I can remember but nothing more than average. When it came to training for a race my plan was to run and build miles. I didn’t think it was necessary to cross train or build strength. Two years ago I hit a plateau & wanted more. I honestly joined Camp Gladiator to tone up but never in a million years thought it would improve my running as much as it has. Prior to CG, I had run 2 marathons, both well over 4 hours. In October of 2014, I completed my 4th marathon with a finish time of 3:46:42. It was not only a 31 minute PR, I missed my BQ time by a mere 1:42! I don’t credit anything else than what I get from Camp Gladiator.
CG may be a group environment but I have never felt like a number in the crowd. The individualized attention they give each of us is something you don’t see even with a personal trainer. They all genuinely care about the campers. They get to know us, our needs, passions, etc. The workouts focus on those needs & passions.
One of the biggest impacts this group has had on me is how dedicated they are to their campers. This was evident in February 2014 when outside of camp, the trainers put together a team to run the Cowtown 10K. They ran with the campers, many of who had never run the distance before. As if that wasn’t enough, the next day during the marathon I was met at mile 20 and coached in to complete marathon #3. Who does that?! Camp Gladiator trainers, that’s who! Positively impacting lives that’s what they do and have done for me!
